Engineering Disciplines — CONNECTIONS

Steel Connection Design

FrameAI designs bolted and welded steel connections for any geometry. Endplate moment, column baseplate, beam splice, and fin-plate connections are fully calculated per EN 1993-1-8 with bolt group capacity, T-stub yield-line, weld sizing, and utilisation ratios. AISC 360-22 supported for US projects alongside the Eurocode workflow.

Key Capabilities
Endplate moment connection — extended unstiffened, stiffened, haunch configurations
Beam splice — flange splice plates (M12–M30, 8.8/10.9), web splice plate design
Column baseplate — concrete bearing (f_jd), T-stub in tension, anchor bolt, weld design
EN 1993-1-8 §3 bolt group capacity — V_bd = V/n + M·e/Σd² (elastic center method)
EN 1993-1-8 §4.5 fillet weld sizing — directional method and simplified method
EN 1993-1-8 §6.2.7 T-stub yield-line analysis — 3 failure modes per Table 6.2
Bolt grade escalation: 8.8 → 10.9 → 12.9 when utilisation exceeds thresholds
AISC 360-22 extended unstiffened endplate (A325/A490), column baseplate (F1554 Gr36/55/105)
